Electrical Training Courses
Power Supply Services and Training is a Registered Training Organisation (Provider Number 50776), with the High Voltage courses being Nationally recognized in line with the National Utilities Training Package UET06 for the Electricity Supply Industry - Transmission and Distribution & Rail.
The Instructors are qualified to Certificate IV level in Assessment and Workplace Training, meeting all the requirements of the National Department of Training to provide and deliver Recognized Training packages.
High Voltage Switching Operations (Electrical Training)
Duration: 4 days. Certificate: Unrestricted.
Duration 1-5 days. Certificate: Restricted.
Customised courses are tailored to the clients own system and equipment. These courses are suited to be carried out on or close to the company's own work site. The course certification normally restricts operations to the client's work site.
Refresher High Voltage Switching Operations (Electrical Training)
Duration 2 days. Certificate: Refresher.
Refresher courses are designed to reinforce key aspects of safety, Fault Ratings, Switching Programs, Access Permits and High Voltage Procedures. It is recommended this course be attended every 2 years for personnel who are authorised switching officers. A prerequisite for this course is that the participant has successfully completed a full HVSO course.
High Voltage Isolation (Electrical Training)
Duration 1 day. Certificate: Unrestricted.
HV isolation courses are designed to train non-electrical personnel to isolate high voltage switchgear for mechanical or production maintenance purposes. This course can to be carried out on and with the equipment that has to be operated, or alternatively at the College of Electrical Training where full practical facilities are available.
ELECTRICAL INDUSTRY COURSES
Electrical Standards & Regulations Refresher (Electrical Training)
Duration 1 day.
This course is designed to review AS3000, including changes in the revised 2007 edition, Various Industry related Australian Standards, Electricity Act and Regulations, Mines Safety & Inspection Act and Regulations, WA Electrical Requirements, Occupational Safety & Health Regulations and WA Electrical Licensing Regulations.
It provides the participant with practical experience in finding relevant Rules, Clauses and Regulations, at the same time making them aware of the overall purpose and requirements of each document. The course includes a Workbook, with questions to answer by locating and becoming familiar with each document.
Electrical Worker Competency Refresher (Electrical Training)
This course covers Electricity Licensing Regulations, Electricity Act Regulations, Code of Practice for Safe Electrical Work,AS3000, AS3017 and AS3760 and includes practical testing & fault finding on test boards with a number of faults set up. It also includes use of test instruments such as a Multi Meter, Megger, Portable Appliance Tester, RCD Tester and Fault Loop Impedance Tester.
The course is recommended as a refresher every 2 years and will be upgraded on an ongoing basis to keep up with changes to legislation and Australian Standards. The course is assessed for both theory and practical elements and a certificate provided on successful completion.
Electrical Supervisors Competency Refresher (Electrical Training)
Duration 1 day
This course has been designed for the Mining Industry to cover all aspects of Duties and Responsibilities of an Electrical Supervisor and will include detailed explanation of the requirements of the Mines Safety and Inspection Act and Regulations and the requirements of the Electrical Safety Management Systems Audit, including practical examples of Supervision and Audit requirements. The course is conducted with opportunity for interaction and discussion among the participants with particular emphasis on a clear understanding and comprehension of Statutory and other requirements to be met and how this can be achieved. The course will include a number of handouts including a hard cover manual, "Guidelines for Electrical Supervisors".
The course is assessed and a Certificate issued on successful completion.
It is recommended for all electrical supervisors as initial training and ongoing refresher training is recommended every 2 years.
Electrical Appreciation Course (Electrical Training)
Duration 1 Day
A course suitable for mechanical and operations personnel to provide an understanding of electrical safety and operation of electrical equipment,. The course includes an overview of legislation, Australian standards and company procedures, electric shock and incidents, access to electrical equipment, an overview of power systems, electrical faults and what to look for, the consequences of multiple starts on motors, what causes overload conditions. The course is assessed and a certificate provided on successful completion. The course is recommended as a refresher every 2 years and for new personnel on commencement of employment.
Welding Electrical Safety Course (Electrical Training)
Duration ½ Day
A course suitable for maintenance personnel to provide an understanding of the hazards and safe work practices necessary for safe welding. It includes Australian standards applicable, case studies and is recommended by the Welding Institute of Australia.
Power Line Corridor Emergency Response Course (Electrical Training)
Duration 2 Hours
This course is designed to cover the requirements for vehicles and machinery operating in a Power Line Corridor in proximity to overhead power lines. It includes requirements of Australian Standards, Mines Regulations, actual incidents and emergency response methods and reasons why. It is recommended for all personnel who operate vehicles and machinery in such areas, The course is assessed and a certificate provided, it is recommended as a refresher every 2 years and for new personnel on commencement of employment.
Hazardous Area Electrical Competency Course (Electrical Training)
Duration 4 Days
This course covers the competencies required for work associated with electrical equipment in hazardous areas.
The competency standards included are as set out in the National Electrotechnology Training Package UET07 and in accordance with the AS 4761 standards. The course includes theory and practical components and is assessed for all areas covered.
A Nationally Recognised Statement of Attainment is issued on successful completion of the course.
